Fußnoten:Mit einer Zusammenfassung in englischer Sprache;-----;The article offers insight into the daily life of Jena student Johann Christian Müller, who later also studied in Leipzig and Greifswald and dreamed of a priest's position in Stralsund. Müller was a diligent student who sent his father regular reports on his progress and his expenses. This was the father's basic condition for paying his son's way, first in Jena, later in Leipzig and Greifswald. Intensive contact with the father and the correspondence between the two influenced the final editors of Müller's later memoirs. These readers present a proper young man whose classmates make rude jokes and undertake forbidden visits to inns associated with drunkenness and sexual contact with women. According to his own account, Müller himself did not take part in these jaunts or quickly found some justification for them. He also reported on his studies to his father in this same spirit. Nevertheless, his memoirs are rich in objectively described details of the time, such as information on his private accommodation, prices of food, beverages and various personal and household goods, including books. Moreover, Müller's memoirs include reports from travels, visits to places where executions were to take place, and personal contact with Gottsched in Leipzig.
