Fußnoten:Abstract: When it comes to "tax revolts" or "antifiscal revolts", German works on taxation focus on the 17th century rather than the late Middle Ages. The revolts themselves have been considered successively through different notions: Zunftrevolutionen or Zunftkämpfe, Bürgerkämpfe or Bürgeraufstände, and finally Unruhen. The evolution of historiography has thus led to a very wide set of "disorders", among which "tax revolts" are hardly visible. This is all the more the case given that medieval sources combine claims relating to taxation with many other motives. An analysis of the revolts that took place in Nordhausen, Colmar, Besançon and Munich - four events that include references to taxation - reveals the eminently political nature of the conflicts.
